A Diploma in Fire and Industrial Safety is a program that provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and mitigate industrial accidents and emergencies, as well as promote safety in the workplace.

MIFSE PRACTICAL TRAINING
Day 1 (7:30 hrs)

Assembly of students at practical ground/ Roll call/ Warming up exercise.

08:30 -09:00 am

Orientation about practical ground and facilities.

09.00 -10.00 am

Familiarisation with the terms/restrictions / do’s and don’ts in the campus

Duties of Safety Officer..        

10:00-12:00 noon

Introducing all types Portable extinguisher/ and their working procedure. Recharging of portable  extinguisher./maintenance

12:00 -1:00 pm

Practical demonstration of portable extinguishers.

01:00- 02:00pm

Lunch.                    

03:00-05:30pm

Introducing different ropes, knots and practically students tying knots.

Day 2 (7.30 hrs)

Assembly of students at practical ground/ Roll call/ Warming up exercise.

08:30 -09:30 am

Introduction to Hoses, nozzles, FMB, Coupler, Breaching, Strainer

(Filter),Suction pipes/Pumps etc.

09:30-01:00pm

Laying of hoses, connecting hoses, operation of hoses with water.

Rolling of Fire hoses/maintenance

Practical pump operation, its parts, system of pump working, complete

introduction of PPE.

Day 3 (7.30 hrs)

Assembly of students at practical ground/ Roll call/ Warming up exercise.

08:30 -10:00 am

Introducing Private hydrants, Hydrant valves and Practical operation.

10.00-11.00am

Introducing Ladders, positioning ladders, carrying ladders etc.

11:00-12:00 noon

Introduction of Fire proof suit, donning of suit and other fire fighting            

PPE.

12:00-01:00pm

Introduction to OS&Y valves and different heads.

Lunch.     

03.00-05.30pm

 

Introduction to hand tools, small power tools and crane operating   

signals . Delivering Tool box meeting.

Day 4 (7.30hrs)

Assembly of students at practical ground/ Roll call/ Warming up exercise.

Introduction of Sprinklers & Practical operation of Sprinklers.

Introduction to scaffold, erection and dismantling exercise/wearing of Fall  Arrest System etc.

Days 5-7 (in Adyar campus)

First aid  class.

Introduction to Confined space, Practical entry and rescuing from  

confined space./SCABA donning etc. Introduction of Gas testers/Welding procedures./Flash back arrestor.

Erection of safety nets.

Introduction to excavation, practical in shoring, sloping, benching and 

working inside the trench.

Documentation-Work at height permit, excavation permit.

Documentation work of Carrying out Risk Assessment, incident     

reporting and accident reporting.

Documentation -Practical maintenance checks on portable extinguishers and recording observations.

Day 7 (7.30 hrs)
 

08.00-12.00noon

Entering a smoke filled area / rescuing people, entering tunnel        

like spaces, wearing SCABA .

Filling of Confined space entry permit, Hot work permit./ Imparting            

Orientation training to new employee.

12.00-01.00pm

 

Documentation-Carrying out auditing and submitting reports.

Introduction to electrical safety devices, AVO Meters, Circuit breakers etc.

Introduction to Fire detection & Alarm System, Practical operation

and evacuation.

Sounding of Siren ,carrying out mock drill of fire fighting.
